Edit Cost and Average Unit Cost on Parts

Admin users can edit the cost associated with part items

Admins and Limited Admins can change the Unit Cost and Average Unit Cost for parts. They can do this from the Part Details card or the Inventory & Parts list. Before, costs could only change when restocking parts. Now, you can fix costs anytime without moving inventory. Every cost change is logged in the part's transaction history.

  1. Click Inventory & Parts module from the main menu.

  2. Click on the name of the part to open the detail card.

  3. Locate the edit buttons (pencil icons) near the Unit Cost or Avg. Unit Cost in the Inventory Details section to open the Edit window.

  4. Enter the new cost value and optional to add notes or files.

  5. Click the Submit button to save or Cancel to not make changes.

The cost update is now logged and visible in the Transaction section at the bottom of the detail card.

  • Cost Update - Manual Unit Cost change that shows the new cost in Cost column

  • Avg. Cost Update - Manual Avg. Unit Cost change that shows the new value in Avg. Unit Cost column

Click on the Details link in the transaction section to view edit details.

Edit from Inventory & Parts List View

Admin and Limited Admin users can also edit unit costs and average unit costs from the Inventory & Parts module list view.

  1. Click on the edit icons (pencil icons from either the Unit Cost column or Average Unit Cost column in the module's list view to open the edit window.

  2. Enter the new value and optional to add notes and files.

  3. Hit the Submit button to save.

  4. The transaction is now logged in the transaction section of the part detail card. You can click on the link associated with the transaction to view details.

  • Stock parts show both Unit Cost and Avg. Unit Cost edit buttons

  • Non-stock parts show only the Unit Cost edit button
